The past eight months I’ve been journeying with The Tear and The Threshold. Two cards I pulled together from Kim Krans’ Archetypes deck shortly after the biggest loss of my life. These are powerful archetypes that are not only metaphor, but have become sites of magic embedded within my own flesh.
My tears are the elixir that dissolve me and reshape me over and over again, turning my body into the soft and fertile place where a river has spilled over onto soil. My tears are the salt water anointment that portals me to the liminal. And I float in an alchemical space between the physical and spiritual realms, eyes wet with clarity, shimmering like starlight. And brightness washes over everything in the earthly world. And I can see all that I need to see. I can see all that really matters in the end.
My tears pour a stream for me to cross over into new ways of being.
Embraces with my loves are longer, our hearts warmly pressing into each other, creating a heat that lasts long after we let go.
The sounds of the birds are sweeter. I can hear their essence in their songs.
Tastes of the forest richer.
My own blood more powerful, my desire to go all in with my love, pulsing through me.
And I remember the Sufi prayer that says, “God, shatter my heart so a new room can be created for a limitless love.”
And I begin to trust that grief is a doorway.
A doorway into a room where my heart and your heart and our hearts meet.
And our tears collide to form an ocean where limitless love can grow.
I love y’all.
May we remember how potent our tears are. How our grief can be a sacred spell that loves us back home to each other.
Hope you have a nourishing Sunday 🌻
